Professional Association Scholarships

You can receive help paying for your education by finding scholarships offered by professional associations. There are professional associations for just about any type of medical career. For example, the Arizona Foundation For the Future of Nursing, has nursing scholarships. If you are going to train to become a phlebotomist, consider joining the American Association of Bioanalysts. They have scholarships for people who need phlebotomy training. You will need to be a member of the organization before you are able to apply.

You can find opportunities like these for nearly any type of healthcare career. Sometimes you will need to be a member of the associations but not always. You will need to read the requirements for each specific scholarship for which you apply.

Military Scholarships

Past and present members of the armed services will find that there are various educational scholarships for which one might apply. One such example is the Arizona Veterans Program Association Scholarship. The scholarship provides financial help for former duty army veterans and for Military Reserves Men from Arizona. Students must be enrolled full time and maintaining a 2.5 grade point average to be considered.  If you meet these general requirements, contact the financial aid office at your school of study for more information about how to apply.

If you are the spouse or child of an army veteran, you might also qualify for some tuition assistance. You can contact the Financial AId office or the Office of Veteran Affairs (if the school has one) to help you determine if there are any military based tuition assistance programs for which you can apply.

Foundation Scholarships

Many foundations offer scholarships for students they may be specific to a certain college or allow you to attend any accredited school in the area. The Phoenix country Club’s Scholarship can help Gateway community college students to obtain a healthcare degree. It is necessary for a student to show they could not otherwise afford their education. Students will need to show a GPA of not less than 2.5 and they must be a resident in Arizona.

College / Institution Specific Scholarships

Most of the accredited colleges, universities or higher education institutes have scholarship programs to offer. The mandatory first step in this process however, is the Free Application for Federal Students Aid (FAFSA) form. It can be quite time consuming and some of their questions may seem intrusive but do take some uninterrupted time off to fill these as accurately as possible. Many scholarship providers like to give the awards to students in a particular institution, college or university either due to a personal connection to that institution or the field of study that the institution provides good training for. These scholarships may not be found listed on external websites so it is advisable to contact the financial aid office of your institution.

Other Scholarships

There are many other scholarships available through competitions. The amounts awarded vary from USD 300 – 10,000 for a year. These competitions are open throughout the year, however, there is no guarantee that one would get the award of they have participated. So do not rely entirely on these. But it is definitely worth trying out for. Most of these are available through the various scholarship websites. Some examples are mentioned below.

The Cheggs monthly scholarship program provides USD 1,000 for students 16 years of age or more, enrolled in High School or an accredited college. They have a question posted on their website every month and you have 2 minutes to reply in about 600 characters. Check the chegg website for more information.

The Unigo “It’s all about the education” scholarship offers USD 3,000 to students enrolled in or plan to enroll no later than the fall of 2022 in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education. You need to submit a short written response to their question: “How will a USD 3,000 scholarship for education make a difference in your life” in not more than 250 words. The application needs to be submitted online through the Unigo website. There are various other scholarships they offer that you might be eligible for hence worth checking out their website.

Special life circumstances

Certain life circumstances might also qualify you for help paying for school to obtain healthcare training. The Arizona Foster care Tuition Waiver helps students who were in foster care and are not yet 21 years of age. Tuition in programs including healthcare ones can be waived for those who qualify. Students will need to remain in good academic standing and are also required to complete 30 hours of volunteer work.

On the Job training – Pharmacy Technician

If your heart is set in pursuing a career in the field of Pharmacy then CVS Health might be something that would be ideal for you. They have various locations state-wide where they have openings for Pharmacy Technician Trainee jobs. You need to be 16 years or above. Their requirements are simple but strong. You should be able to greet customers in courteous and professional manner, assist them with their questions and concerns, maintain patient or customer confidentiality according to the HIPAA and company standards and answer the telephone appropriately.

Upon successful completion of the CVS Pharmacy Technician Training Program as per the local state guideline, you would move to the Pharmacy Technician position.

Job Corps – Arizona

The Phoenix Job Corps provide free training for a number of occupations including healthcare. They also provide housing and meals for the duration of training and job placement assistance for upto nine months after graduating. Government Assistance

The Local Unemployment Agencies or one-stop centers have several participating companies that provide on-the-job training in various fields. There is one in every county. The Unemploymentclaims.org provide various services and also have finance available for programs including Dentistry, Pharmacy and Medical Assistant. They are a NON – government agency, but it would be worth giving them a call on 855-972-0447 to see if they have something suitable for you.

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Youth program has facilities to help youths of ages 16 – 24 who are unable to fund their studies by helping them find training, study skills or on job training and pre-apprenticeship programs that would help the youths get a start into a fruitful career. You can get more information from the Arizona Department of Economic Security, which is definitely worth checking out.

Pharmacy Tech Trainee-Safeway Phoenix Arizona. You can begin working in the pharmaceutical field by training to be a pharmacy tech. Some Safeway locations will hire you to receive on the job training. As a pharmacy technician you will help to set up prescription fills. You will keep pharmacy display cases neat and organized. Some of your job will involve assisting customers and ringing out payment from customers for their prescriptions. You must be someone who likes to work with people as you will be expected to provide a high level of customer support. Certified Nursing Assistant-Brighton Gardens, Scottsdale, Arizona.

Do you want to start a career where you can help patients who are ill or who are in long term care settings? As a CNA, you will assist patients with many of their daily activities, may assist nurses and other staff with other procedures, and help transport patients to activities and other medical care services and so much more. You can receive hands on training by applying for CAN training at Brighton Gardens. If you are hired, you will receive the classroom experience and the direction patient care experienced needed to become fully certified. You will need to work for the location for a set amount of time to fulfill your agreement to receive the free training.
